Dirk Coetzee was looking for a job that would accommodate his severe intellectual disability. He created a job seeker profile on JOB-ABLED and JOB-ABLED assisted Dirk in completing his PSIRA course as a security guard at a local school.
After successfully completing his qualification, his hard work caught the attention of Basset Alarms. Now, he proudly fulfils a professional guarding position at Basset North Guarding!

Liyakha Nkantini, a student from the Alta du Toit School proudly participates in JOB-ABLED’s work readiness workshop.
This workshop takes place at Bottelary Motors every Wednesday and teaches students with disabilities some practical skills that they can carry with them in life, and in the workplace.
"On behalf of the Ukuwela Program at Carpe Diem School, we would like to thank McDonald's and JOB-ABLED for the opportunity where two of our learners attended job shadowing at the McDonald's Store in Courtney Street, George during 2022. It has been a great experience for both learners and for us and we commend the staff at the store for their positive attitude toward our learners. Jody Newman, a learner from the Alta du Toit Special School, is taking part in a job shadowing programme at the McDonald's Gables branch.
With the help of the friendly and encouraging McDonald's staff, Jody is learning valuable skills that will help her in her future career!
Each of the learners who complete the job shadowing programme through JOB-ABLED and McDonald's is awarded a certificate of completion to verify the hours they have worked and the skills they have learned.
